Composition

Tylenol mainly contains Acetaminophen. Its chemical formula is C8H9NO2. Its chemical name is N-acetyl-p-aminophenol. It is a synthetic analgesic and nonopiate in nature. It is a centrally acting drug and is derived from p-aminophenol. Aminophenol has a molecular weight of 151.16.

It is a white powder, with crystalline nature. It is soluble in water, boiling water, alcohol, chloroform and glycerin. It is slightly soluble in ether.
