Janie Winning, a resident of Los Angeles has filed a lawsuit against the pharmaceutical giant Bayer for not informing people about the potential side effects that the birth control pill Yaz. According to reports, in the lawsuit filed on January 17, 2013 in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, the plaintiff claimed of sustaining various side effects including pulmonary embolism a condition that can cause heart attack and myocardial infarction due to the prolonged use of the drug.

In the lawsuit the plaintiff and her Yaz lawyer have framed charges of negligence, breach of product liability, concealment of relevant clinical research data and misrepresentation. John Winning, the plaintiff’s husband, has claimed for loss of consortium and wanted strict action against the defendant. The plaintiff has also sought for monetary, punitive and exemplary damages that she suffered all the way through.

What is Pulmonary Embolism?

Pulmonary embolism is a kind of blood clot that forms in the artery of the lung. A pulmonary embolism though generally forms in the lung it may also form in other parts of the body and then pass on to the lung with the blood stream.
