The intake of Paxil, containing paroxetine, is contradicted in anyone below 18 years of age. Also, elderly people, pregnant women and nursing mothers are included in the contradictory list. The severe ones may include severe allergic reactions, black stools or bloody stools, confusion, pain in chest, irregular heartbeats, fever followed with chills, loss of memory, behavioral changes, suicidal thoughts, unusual pain in bones and unexplained swelling along with worsening of depression. If experiencing any such thing, the patient is advised to consult a doctor immediately.
Side effects with Paxil CR:
The less severe side effects may include: diarrhea, pain in back, decreased sexual ability, blurring of vision, drying of mouth, dizziness, increased sweating and urinating.
The more severe side effects associated with intake of Paxil CR tablets include severe allergic reactions, pain in chest associated with tightness, exaggerated reflexes, unusual weakness, attempts to commit suicide and increased suicidal thoughts, significant loss in weight, worsening of depression with dramatic changes in mood.
Side effects with Paxil suspension:
The less severe or minor side effects may include decreased sexual desire or ability, blurring of vision, dizziness, drying of mouth, increased urination and sweating, loss of appetite, stomach related problems as diarrhea, constipation, insomnia and more.
Whereas the severe side effects include serious allergic reactions, exaggerated reflexes, peeling of skin, decreased coordination and concentration, increased confusion, irregular heartbeat, dramatic changes in mood and behavior, increased attempts for suicide and more.
The list of side effects that are associated with the intake of Paxil goes far beyond the above mentioned ones. Whatever the situation may be, consulting with the healthcare expert about what effects the medication is producing on administration is advised to avoid getting trapped in anything which may turn life threatening.
Important information:
All those who are below 24 years of age may experience increased thoughts about committing suicide in especially the first 12 weeks of treatment. In case if any such patients have worsening symptoms calling a healthcare expert is recommended at the earliest.
Especially in infants Paxil (paroxetine) may cause serious life threatening complications linked with heart or lungs; it is thus advised that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding must stay away from this as much as possible. But, women who are already administering Paxil and are planning to become pregnant must first discuss the same with their doctors to avoid facing the withdrawal syndrome.
